A woman was shot and critically wounded in the South Shore neighborhood Thursday afternoon. Around 4 p.m., the woman was shot at 6826 S. Cornell Ave., just south of Jackson Park. She was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

A man aged 18-22 was fatally shot in the eye in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, with no suspects detained as detectives investigate.

The woman, 43, was shot by a 17-year-old boy about 4 p.m. at a home in the 6800 block of South Cornell Avenue, according to police.
