The Guardians’ magic number to clinch the American League Central Division championship dropped again Wednesday thanks to a 5-4 walkoff win against Minnesota in extra innings at Progressive Field. Detroit’s 4-2 win and series sweep in Kansas City helped cut Cleveland’s magic number even further while the Guards were celebrating their victory.

After a very slow start to the season, the Houston Astros have once again proven their AL West superiority. Well, almost. Despite having one of the best second halves in baseball, the Astros have yet to secure a spot in the MLB playoffs.

Given that the Yankees are currently three games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East with 12 games to go for both teams, the Yankees would need at least nine wins/Orioles' losses in order to finish the regular season with the same record as Baltimore. However, in that scenario, it is very likely that Baltimore would hold the tiebreaker.
